I’m an investigative journalist based in Nashville, Tennessee.

I am a freelance writer and a journalism professor at Western Kentucky University. I have written for such publications as Mother Jones, The Guardian, Wired, Jezebel, The New Republic, and Rolling Stone. My work focuses on reproductive justice, American evangelicalism, and Southern culture.

I’m also the author of the book No Choice: The Destruction of Roe v. Wade and the Fight to Protect a Fundamental American Right, published in October 2022 by Hachette’s PublicAffairs imprint.

I hold degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
